ISCI encourages senior researchers and professionals around the world who develop and support indicators to measure and monitor the well-being of children and apply the collected data to influence and formulate policies.

Advances have been made by the researchers, data users, child advocates and policymakers to ensure the protection and empowerment of children by the use of collaborative efforts at the local, regional, national and international levels. However, these important efforts have been undertaken without the benefit of an organising structure to support and foster collaboration, integrate findings, and coordinate and disseminate research. On a simpler note, the field is reaching a critical mass without an organised professional home. This gap is being bridged by the ISCI as they offer that home.

To offer the organisational support and structure, ISCI has been successful in creating a large database of research papers, books, reports and newsletters. The ever-expanding database has been developed by journals published by ISCI, international conferences, self-publications etc.
