Shazly Savahl is a professor of psychology based at the University of the Western Cape, Cape Town, South Africa. He obtained a Doctoral degree through the University of the Western Cape/Ghent University partnership, funded by the Vlaamse Interuniversiteit Raad Doctoral Scholarship Programme. His research interests include childhood studies, children’s subjective well-being, child well-being indicators, child-centred research, and children’s rights. Currently, he is the principal investigator of the Children’s Worlds: International Survey on Children’s Well-Being, and the Multinational Qualitative Study on Children’s Understanding of Well-Being. He is a founding and current board member of the South African Positive Psychology Association, a member of the National Children’s Rights Intersectoral Coordinating Committee and an executive board member of the International Society for Child Indicators. He holds a B2 rating (internationally acclaimed researcher) from the National Research Foundation of South Africa and is a member of the Academy of Science of South Africa.
